Our principal Organic Glass Scintillator (OGS), BSO-100, is a highly luminescent scintillator with exceptional particle discrimination. The amorphous matrix, composed primarily of pure fluorophore, provides a versatile and high-performance material that is suitable for numerous radiation detection applications.
Key characteristics and advantages of BSO-100 are the following:
- High neutron detection efficiency and gamma rejection (Pulse Shape Discrimination)
- Short emission decay timing (1.3−1.6 ns prompt)
- High light yields (>17,000 ph/MeVee)
- Fast timing
- Additive manufacturing allows for a variety of shapes, formulations and housing options formulated for desired detection needs.

Our Organic Glass Scintillator (BSO-100) can be fabricated into a wide variety of right circular cylinders (RCCs), bars and plates suitable for mating to PMTs or SIlicon Photomultiplier detectors.

Not as fragile as single crystals, BSO-100 has the mechanical strength to be fabricated into bars as long as 20 cm. A thin epoxy coating provides additional strength and protection from damage.

Not limited by subtractive manufacturing techniques, BSO-100 can be cast to fit almost any shape. For example, we can make s square bar connected to a round cone, so that you have a one piece detector plus light guide.

Dimensions: we typically achieve:
width +/- 0.25mm on small parts, +/- 0.5mm on large parts.
length: +/- 0.5mm on small parts, =/- 1.0mm on large parts.
If you need tighter dimensions, contact us.
We generally do not cast pieces smaller that about 2 mm thick for smaller parts and 3 mm thick for larger parts.
As it generally take 3 mm for a proton hit by a neutron to lose it energy, we advise against parts smaller than 3 mm in any case.
